ABOUT US
The research conducted at the Department covers a wide spectrum of topics related to the preparation, characterization and application of innovative materials and nanomaterials. The most important research directions currently implemented at the Department are presented below:
- preparation and characterization of physicochemical properties of metallic nanoparticles for a wide range of applications, from biology and medicine to electronics and materials engineering
- functionalization of silver and gold nanoparticles to develop an antiviral and immunostimulatory preparation
- the safety of the use of nanomaterials in cosmetic products and the exposure of living organisms to nanomaterials
- development of new types of materials and composites with photocatalytic properties, made of titanium dioxide, metal nanostructures, and graphene or other materials that act as self-cleaning and antibacterial coatings
- studies of phenomena occurring under the influence of light on the surface of photocatalysts, with particular emphasis on photonic crystals - periodic porous structures with a high degree of order
- production and characterization of self-organizing layers and thin-layer systems for tribological applications in the full range of loads from the nano to the macro level
