Realizacja grantu Beethoven-2 i prof. Mlostoń z Medalem Justusa Liebiga

The cooperation between teams working at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen (principal investigator: Prof. Peter R. Schreiner) and at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Lodz (principal investigator: Prof. Grzegorz Mlostoń) has resulted in the implementation of the Beethoven-2 grant entitled: "3-Alkoxyimidazolylidenes (NOHCs): A new class of highly nucleophilic carbenes. Preparation, structural and reactivity studies, and new applications in asymmetric catalysis".

The grant, worth approximately PLN 2.5 million, was financed by the National Science Centre and Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and was implemented in the years 2018-2022. It resulted in the preparation of doctoral dissertations in both Giessen and Lodz, numerous conference presentations and joint publications in prestigious professional journals, including Chem. Commun. 2022, 58, 1538; J. Organomet. Chem. 2021, 949, e121914 and many others.

The implementation of the grant fits perfectly into the cooperation agreement between the Justus Liebig University Giessen and the University of Lodz (Łódź-Giessen Partnerschaft) that has been implemented for many years. Prof. Grzegorz Mlostoń, the project principal investigator, working at the Department of Organic and Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Lodz was awarded the Justus Liebig Medal for his many years of contribution to the development of this cooperation in 2023. The medal is the most important distinction awarded to foreign scientists by the University of Giessen.
It is awarded to individuals employed in institutions cooperating with the Justus Liebig University in Giessen who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of international contacts of the university.
